Radiation Oncology Program

Program Orientation/Overview

The Radiation Oncology Program at Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute provides comprehensive, multimodality, patient-oriented care for all types and stages of cancer. Special attention is given to technological advancement, quality of life and education. Our physicians and staff are dedicated to providing the newest and most effective care to our patients while striving to blend compassion and technique in our care approach. The goals of the program are to provide interdisciplinary care for new and established patients; develop and conduct clinical research trials that focus on radiation as the modality of treatment; establish collaborative links with appropriate science programs at Moffitt; utilize state-of-the-art equipment in the most efficient and effective manner; and provide educational programs and training for medical students, house staff, physicians, fellows and community physicians. Our physicians are specialty-trained radiation oncologists and are knowledgeable in both standard and unique methods of radiation therapy. All of our nursing staff and radiation therapists are registered professionals in their discipline. The program also has social workers to help with emotional needs and a dietitian to assist with proper diet and nutritional concerns.

The Radiation Oncology Program holds weekly conferences to discuss cases where physician input is obtained and shared. This conference also functions as an educational forum for hospital staff involved in the care of patients receiving radiation treatment. The physicians provide direction to the staff in all technical aspects of radiation treatment. Quality of care of all patients is our number one priority and goal. This leads to highly expert, professional, quality patient care and very high patient satisfaction.
